A PETITION FOR SEBASTIANO, THE POOR STRAY DOG
The workgroups Randagismo.info and Cuccefelici, after the brutal
killing of the stray dog Sebastiano, happened during the capture by the
A.S.L. (Local Sanitary Authority), present a petition online, since they
think it proper to support the actions that will be brought in the
various offices.
Randagismo.info and Cuccefelici will make their spaces available to
spread online this petition that has the purpose to support the
attention of the citizens and the involved authorities.
We beg everybody, who not only cares for animals, but especially the
respect of the law, to participate in this action that doesn't want to
be an attack, but a mobilization for civilization.
The veterinary A.S.L. in L'Aquila, unfortunately, is not new to these
episodes: they are known, in fact, the disappearances of some dogs
-captured for being spayed/neutered- and mysteriously "run away" or the
euthanasia of a litter, justified as a way to fight straying.
We are deeply convinced that the battle against straying must be faced
with other methods (i.e. informative campaigns, spaying/neutering,
adoption and canine registry), and that, above all, it must be faced in
the respect of law.
Since the news of Sebastiano's killing had highlight at national level,
we thought to involve everybody who is interested in this story with a
petition that can be signed by everyone and everywhere: at the end, the
signatures will be sent to the executives of Local Government, District
Council, Region, ASL and Veterinarians' Order; the number of signatures
will be communicated to the media.
